Leadership from the Ministry of Infrastructure, Energy and Water Resources came to Houston November 29 - Dec 1 to present the final bid round details. Twenty four blocks have been designated as available for bids in Israel’s offshore waters in the Levant Basin, Eastern Mediterranean. The blocks are a maximum size of 400 km2, some of which are adjacent to recent world class gas discoveries in water depths of between 1500 and 1800 m. The closing date for bids on the offered blocks is programmed for March 2017.

This represents a terrific opportunity for Texas gas companies...

In November, Governor Greg Abbott appointed Jay Zeidman, Michael Guyton, and Tina C. Mims to the Small Business Assistance Advisory Task Force for terms set to expire June 14, 2017. The task force advises and assists the governor, lieutenant governor and speaker with issues that relate to small businesses, and provides information in plain language to the public on issues related to small businesses.

In the Texas Senate and House, companion bills were filed Nov 14 to prohibit the use of state public funds for companies that are involved with the Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions (BDS) movement. BDS is a global campaign attempting to increase political and economic pressure on Israel. State Representative Phil King (R-Weatherford), will sponsor House Bill 89, while State Senator Brandon Creighton (R-Conroe) will sponsor Senate Bill 134.The legislators have proposed legislation that would make it illegal for the state to do business with entities that back the BDS movem...

Forbes’ annual Best States for Business list published its 2016 list in mid-November which congratulated Texas as #4 overall in the United States, up from #6 in 2015. Texas also has the best economic climate in the country. In addition, Texas is the second largest economy in the United States.
