AIPAC announced that provisions supportive of Israel were added to the 2018 Fiscal Year Omnibus Appropriations Bill passed on March 23rd.

The provisions, which arose from bipartisan support in the House and the Senate, establish a U.S.-Israel Center for Excellence in energy and water technologies. Additionally, the law funds the U.S.-Israel Binational Industrial Research and Development Energy (Bird-Energy) Program.

U.S. Representative Brad Sherman (D-CA) commented that,

“This is the highest level of funding for joint U.S-Israel energy programs in our countries’ histories....

Israeli technology was utilized following the devastating hurricanes Harvey and Irma. Initially designed to assist military personnel in harsh environments, the technology is now being implemented for humanitarian causes globally, as reported by Newsmax.

It works best in humid climates and uses energy equivalent to that of a strong lightbulb to produce between 160 to 1,600 gallons of water daily depending on the size of the unit.
