Israeli Water Legislation Passed in Washington

The Texas-Israel Chamber of Commerce is delighted to announce that our efforts supporting AIPAC’s advocacy for the Water Resources Development Act has yielded positive results! Within this new law concerning water, there are specific provisions which encourage US-Israeli cooperation on water desalination. Israel has an impressive water story and Texas can enormously benefit from incorporating these technologies within our communities. Israel suffers from a shortage of water, and yet the country has managed to maximize this limited resource to become a net exporter of water. In particular, the development of the country's seawater desalination plants has allowed Israel to repurpose ocean water. As a result, Israel gets 55 percent of its domestic water from desalination, turning one of the world’s driest countries into a water giant.
