The close political and economic ties between Texas and Israel were strengthened this week by Israel’s Consul General to the Southwest U.S., Gilad Katz.
During a trip to Austin Mr. Katz met with powerful Texas leaders such as Texas Land Commissioner, George P. Bush. Also present at the meeting was Deputy Consul General Omer Chechek. The diplomats and politicians discussed strengthening economic ties between both “Lone Star” states.
The Israeli diplomats also attended Houston’s annual America Israel Public Affairs Committee (AIPAC) event. Houston Mayor, Sylvester Turner (D) and U.S. Senator, Ted Cruz (TX-R) also attended the bipartisan event. Katz expressed his optimism in the political influence of the event and also his hope to work with leaders such as Senator Ted Cruz to strengthen the U.S.–Israel alliance. The General Consul tweeted:
Ongoing meetings between public officials from both “Lone Star” States leaves us excited at the prospect of more economic collaboration between Texas and Israel.
